The Hawaiʻi Journal of Health & Social Welfare is an open-access journal and does NOT charge a submission or publication fee per article or column. This ensures access to publication for authors across the University of Hawaiʻi System and communities throughout Hawaiʻi and the Pacific Islands. As a teaching journal, the HJH&SW is committed to supporting the development of authors’ submissions toward publication whenever possible by providing comprehensive editorial guidance to revise and advance manuscripts, rather than defaulting to rejection.To ensure each article is globally accessible and citable, as of 2023, each article published in the HJH&SW is assigned a unique, permanent DOI (Digital Object Identifier), which is registered with CrossRef to maintain record of the article. Additionally, articles published in the HJH&SW are indexed in Elsevier, Scopus, and PubMed Central, facilitated by the U.S. National Institutes of Health's National Library of Medicine (NIH/NLM).
